Asclepias tuberosa is commonly known as Butterfly Weed. It is characterized by its vibrant orange flower clusters that are butterfly magnets throughout its long summer bloom season. In addition to butterflies it attracts humminbirds and a variety of insects and pollinators.
As a native prairie plant is it happy in meadow gardens, native plant gardens and butterfly gardens. It does well in sunny gardens with average to dry soil but will prosper in a variety of growing conditions.
